This entire series was inspired by the local performance of a touring big band. It was billed as the Tommy Dorsey band, I think, but of course Tommy Dorsey is dead, and the Big Band Era is history. This echo of a band had a slender female singer. She sat just off stage in a folding chair with a shawl around her shoulder, until a singing number came up. Then, she'd shed the shawl and be transformed into a dynamic and sexy entertainer. Too bad she wasn't born 50 years sooner.
