Pass Christian is famous for being the town "with the pretty homes on the beach," but it is decidedly a working-class community. Citizens were shocked to realize so many of the graceful, old mansions were swept away in the breaking surf from Mississippi Sound, but the people in neighborhoods such as this suffered the greatest relative loss.
