While we're still in the neighborhood, I may as well show you the Johnson house. As I've mentioned, houses on my block faired well structurally, because of a slight rise in elevation between them and the gulf. However, Christine--my neighbor to the left--and most others suffered heavy water damage. Not only does five to nine feet of flood water ruin almost everything it touches, it leaves an incredibly foul and thick muck behind. Without running water, most houses still standing remain uninhabitable.
