ost readers know Arlo has a Tiki fetish, an inexact yearning for somewhere lush and steamy. I attribute this to my own initial view of the Gulf of Mexico. It was the first body of water I'd ever seen that stretched to the horizon. In the front seat of our '59 Mercury, my parents were anticipating our arrival at my uncle's house in Mobile--the end to a long drive south. I'm sure they were unaware that, in the back seat, their seven-year-old son's life had just changed forever.

This, apparently, is not a rare phenomenon. They say the Naval Academy routinely is deluged with applications from places like Nebraska. So, without further ado, I have for you today another A&J staple, a little, week-long series in which Arlo literally dreams of sailing away. This series includes a special, guest appearance by a man who needs no introduction to persons similarly afflicted.

(Here are your cat cartoons for today!)

Home, James!
